With World of Warcraft rebooting the ab~ areas in the not too terribly distant future, some people are starting to plain alts through the content a bit more slowly. The idea is to descry if you can find anything you hadn't already seen face to face with the world is torn asunder. One such spot was found ~ means of today's One Shots contributor, Goose Moose, who sent in a account along with the above image.
Even though I've played World of Warcraft inasmuch as launch day, I never noticed this little halfway sunken ship ~ the agency of Menethil Harbor until recently. While leveling my druid alt I came athwart it and thought I'd give it some love and observation since I had overlooked it for so long. I don't know why, but I kind of wondered, 'Whose ship was this and that which befell it so close to harbor?' I guess I'll in no degree find out. I'm looking forward to finding more little things like this while leveling my alt.
Are you running old content before it goes at a distance? If you've got any great images of your adventures in Azeroth, we lack to see them. Email them in to us at oneshots AT massively DOT com longitudinally with your name and a brief description. We'll post them up in the place of everyone to wax nostalgic over and give you the credit.

A tell off of massively multiplayer online game developers have touted the fact that their titles bequeath be playable on both PC and Xbox 360 but, with underdone exceptions, they've failed to deliver on MMOs for this corbel. But can the blame for this really be laid solely at the feet of the developers? That seems to be the typical reaction, as many of us get frustrated over these contrite promises. However, looking at the various titles that were aiming for 360 and missed, perhaps we should look at what all of these stories be in actual possession of in common: Microsoft. (Lest the fires of console fanboy rage publish out of control, we're not exactly inundated with PlayStation 3 MMOs both.)
Andy Griffiths from Gamerzines recently spoke with Jack Emmert from Cryptic Studios concerning this issue, and his perspective on playing ball with Microsoft to induce Champions Online on the 360. According to Gamerzines, Emmert stated that Champions Online on this account that Xbox is almost ready to go, but lack of action adhering Microsoft's part is holding up the project.

Normally we don't cover the opening of games in far, far off countries, like Korea. They usually put on't affect us very much, and we're usually not that interested. But how can you not be interested when a game's divinity level is over 9,000!!!!!!
Yes, that's twice we've used the identical meme in the same article. We apologize. But Dragonball Online's website is in the long run up over at Netmarble's games portal. Akira Toriyama's artstyle has translated beautifully to the play for money, looking much like his signature style in Dragon Quest.

Goblins and Worgens, oh my! Changes in different mechanisms, and a complete revamp of World of Warcraft's old Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. Yesterday at BlizzCon, Blizzard announced their next expansion, titled Cataclysm. Players will have the option of rolling a Worgen on the Alliance side, or a Goblin on the Horde side, exploring in new (old) lands and getting killed in new and exciting ways. Of course, for the lore nerds, Deathwing is popping up, ready to chow down on a bunch of new adventurers. That, as they say, is just the tip of the iceberg!
That said, this morning we wanted to ask you - is Cataclysm now on your gaming "must have" list? Is the idea of being able to roll a Goblin who can access their bank remotely every 30 minutes something that catches your attention? Are you all about the Worgen, having been mauled by the Sons of Arugal in your earlier World of Warcraft career? Or are you pretty firmly burned out on WoW - or fantasy in general - and will instead be enjoying the silence as tons of MMO gamers stampede for the nearest game store at launch?

One of the most successful companies operating in the free-to-play games arena is Nexon, which reported their July revenues are up 35 percent year-on-year, according to Worlds In Motion. Much of this good fortune can be attributed to MapleStory, which set a new max concurrent user record of over 70,000 users last month. While the number of registered users in a free-to-play MMO doesn't tell the whole story, Nexon recently announced MapleStory has 92 million registered users worldwide, six million of which are in North America.
Nexon America VP of Marketing Min Kim was quoted by Worlds in Motion about the company's plans for North America. Kim said, "We're heavily investing on all fronts -- in our games, our publishing platform, aggressive marketing efforts as well as customer service. The best news for Nexon America is that our success isn't just reflected in registered users, but in actual, dramatic revenue growth."

The US arm of Japanese game publisher Gamepot (note: not Gamespot, nor indeed Gamestop) has announced that they will be bringing a new free-to-play title to North American gamers by the end of the year. Bright Shadow promises hordes of unique monsters -- frightening stuff like squirrels with scythes -- collectively known as "Umbra" to battle throughout the game's world, using one of 20 different character classes. One of its other main features is a strong focus on social functions, with a robust guild system including guild halls and rankings. The world will have an "ever-changing weather system" and will contain a plethora of instanced dungeons.
While the Umbra monsters will remain fairly untouched during the localization process, there will be new story lines and some beefed up character customization options awaiting players of the US version of Bright Shadow. Down the line, an RMT item mall will be introduced, allowing players to spend "Pot Cash" to get their hands on some aesthetic character enhancements. A teaser site has been launched and a closed beta application will be available through it some time soon, with the closed beta scheduled to begin this fall. Hit the jump to see a CGI trailer for the game.

Has it ever seemed ridiculous that in the setting of EVE Online, where technology has opened up the vast potential of the galaxy, there are still aspects of being a capsuleer that are completely ghetto? The ship and capsule technologies in EVE enable you to traverse solar systems in mere seconds, unleash hails of destruction that vaporize space stations, and provides immortality through cloning... but you have to stow prostitutes, slaves, marines, and livestock in a single cargo hold? Sloshing around in there with your fuel, no less.
While the commingling of your livestock with the military forces you've rescued is hardly ranked as a critical issue in the game, not having enough room in your cargo bay for jump drive fuel is. Today's Apocrypha 1.5 release made significant changes to ships capable of using jump drives. We knew this was in the works but CCP Games didn't reveal any of the details until yesterday's dev blog from CCP Abathur titled "Regular or Unleaded?".

Aion dev Yongchan Jee spilled the beans on the game's origins as part of a GDC Europe Q and A session. Gamasutra were on hand to find out what exactly makes the game stand out in Korea. This included addressing a gap in the market for 'AAA' titles after the release of Lineage II and World of Warcraft, as well as focusing on a faction warfare angle which sees the two player-controlled races of the Elyos and the Asmodians fighting against each other and the terrifying Balaur. Jee also discussed how the game was rebooted in 2006 and while this did affect the moral of the developers, it ultimately allowed them to start from scratch and create a truly memorable game.
Lee also focused on the character customisation, discussing the concepts of beautiful and ugly characters in MMOs like World of Warcraft, where Korean players often favour the Alliance over the Horde. He also explained why the devs chose to create Aion as a zone-based MMO over a seamless world. Aion fans should definitely check out Gamasutra's write up for even more hints at Aion's gestation and conception.
